Or book a room in the older building to avoid it. I suggest booking a pool view/ water view room to avoid the construction. I should have absolutely been told about it before I went up my room, and these rooms should be deeply discounted. There should absolutely be information about this when you book your room. We get up early so it didn’t bother us, but I think most people would have a big problem with this. In addition, all the rooms facing the construction side have to deal with it also. This is a huge project with 2 cranes, lots of vehicles and probably about 50 construction workers on site. My husband actually enjoyed watching it so it was ok with us, however I can totally understand how people would be upset. I was taken aback when I saw it because nothing was mentioned about it. Regarding the construction- we had a room on the end right next to the construction. We had an ocean front room and the views were gorgeous. We also had breakfast one morning that was insanely overpriced and not very good. We ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant and had great meals. The pool bar is accessible and well staffed. The rooms are beautiful, the infinity pool is lovely, the hot tub is large and very nice. Dining in the restaurant, Viento, gave us a feel for how much nicer the common areas are in that building. We would like to think we will return to this resort, but only in a room in the Opal Building. The valet parking is a bit of a drag, especially since there were spots in the back parking lot that we could have parked in and been only steps away from our room. The stools on the other side are fine - I'm unsure as to why they wouldn't be the same on both sides. They are so low that sitting on your feet is the only way to be elevated. I feel the stools at the bar that face the ocean should be replaced we spoke to other guests about this and they agreed. I give this resort 4 stars because the staff was excellent and very friendly, the food was good, and the beach is beautiful and not over-run with people. There is a lot of wear and tear that should be addressed. This also applies to the overall baseboards and framing in the room. The carpet in our room was filthy with stains, there was dust on the walls next to the sliding door that goes out to a tiny balcony, and the door frames of most - if not all - of the rooms we walked by needed some help with a coating of paint. We found the Escalera Building to be in dire need of updating and overall maintenance. Keep in mind when you book you room that the Escalera Building is more or less the "not so pretty step-sister" to the Opal Building. We had a wonderful getaway at this resort. The valet parking is a bit of a drag, especially since there were spots in the back parking lot that we could have parked in and.
